Project Accountant - Golden Sugar Company, Sunti (FMN Holdings)

Purpose

To manage the accounting, financial control and reporting of capital and investment projects at Golden Sugar Company (GSC) Sunti, ensuring expenditure is accurately recorded, controlled and aligned with approved scope and budgets from project initiation through completion, work-in-progress and capitalisation.

The Job

• Ensure accurate recording and follow-up of all transactions relating to capital and investment projects at GSC Sunti.
• Control the end-to-end CAPEX cycle.
• Register and monitor all purchase requisitions, purchase orders, advance and mobilisation payments, certifications, goods received notes (GRNs), invoices and contractor payments, ensuring correct accounting treatment.
• Ensure the appropriate project, work centre and financial dimensions are set up in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and that all project transactions are correctly coded.
• Maintain a CAPEX register showing approved budget, actual expenditure, committed expenditure, forecast-to-complete, balance available and project status.
• Monitor and analyse actual project expenditure against approved budgets, identify cost variances, and escalate over- and under-budget expenditure to the Project Leader and Head of Finance.

The Person Must

• Understand contract accounting, CAPEX accounting and procurement procedures.
• Have a strong understanding of project financial controls and end-to-end CAPEX processes.
• Report actual expenditure, committed expenditure and forecast-to-complete in a structured way.
• Be able to explain financial figures and project status to non-finance managers and supervisors.
• Be able to reconcile financial expenditure with physical project progress.

Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or a related field.
• Membership of ICAN, ACCA, ACA or CIMA.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years' cognate experience after ICAN qualification, preferably in manufacturing or FMCG.
