Technician (Fitter) B2B - Golden Penny Foods, Apapa (FMN Holdings)

Purpose

To install, inspect, maintain and repair mechanical systems and milling machinery, ensuring safe operations, minimising downtime, and enhancing the performance, reliability and availability of milling and packaging equipment at Golden Penny Foods, Apapa.

The Job

• Install, maintain and repair mechanical equipment, machinery and components used in milling and packaging operations.
• Conduct routine inspections of machinery and complete the required maintenance and inspection reports.
• Respond promptly to mechanical faults and breakdowns, and carry out preventive maintenance in line with approved schedules.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, repair manuals and parts catalogues to carry out maintenance tasks accurately.
• Ensure completed maintenance and repair work is properly documented and signed off.
• Follow up on requests for spare parts, tools and materials needed for maintenance.
• Comply with all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures and applicable mechanical standards.
• Maintain good housekeeping to keep the work environment clean, safe and hygienic.

The Person Must

• Have good mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
• Demonstrate good attention to detail and accuracy in maintenance work.
• Be able to work under pressure and respond promptly to equipment breakdowns.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and the proper use of PPE.

Qualification

• Five O'Level credits including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings.
• NABTEB, trade test, City & Guilds or technical certification.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years' cognate experience in mechanical maintenance.
• Experience in a manufacturing, milling, packaging or industrial environment is an advantage.
