About the Lagos Food Bank Initiative

The Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) is Nigeria’s first nutrition-focused hunger-relief non-profit organization. Working as a food hub, LFBI addresses the underlying causes of hunger and malnutrition by providing food assistance, nutrition intervention, and agricultural support to vulnerable communities across Nigeria.

The LFBI Graduate Trainee Program is a gateway to a fulfilling and impactful career in the development and non-profit sectors. Designed for high-potential, self-motivated fresh graduates, this program offers hands-on experience, executive mentorship, and specialized training to nurture the next generation of social impact leaders.

Available Tracks & Departments

Trainees are deployed to specific operational tracks based on their academic background, interests, and skill set:

  • Operations & Supply Chain: Warehousing, Fleet & Logistics, Inventory Management, Food Sourcing.

  • Programs & Social Impact: Nutrition (NUMEPLAN), Agriculture & Family Farming, Edufood, NIDS, Volunteering Management.

  • Corporate & Administrative Support: Human Resources, Finance, Business Development, Administration, Policy & Advocacy.

  • Technology & Media: IT Support, Web & Social Media Management, Graphics Design, Communications.

What You Will Do

  • Departmental Rotation & On-the-Job Learning: Collaborate directly with experienced specialists on live projects, gaining operational mastery in your assigned domain.

  • Field Operations & Community Outreach: Participate in boots-on-the-ground distributions, community engagements, and nutrition interventions across underserved communities.

  • Project Support & Research: Assist in data collection, program evaluations, donor reporting, and policy advocacy initiatives.

  • Process Improvement: Apply analytical thinking to optimize volunteer engagement, food sourcing pipelines, and administrative workflows.

Key Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) from a recognized institution.

  • NYSC Status: Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

  • Experience: 0 to 2 years post-NYSC experience.

  • Age Limit: Maximum of 30 years old at the time of application.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel proficiency from Intermediate to Advanced is highly preferred).

    • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Core Competencies:

    • Demonstrated passion for social impact, community development, and humanitarian service.

    • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

    • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to take initiative.

    • High adaptability, teamwork mindset, and a strong drive for continuous growth.
