Mediverse AI

Nigeria-born health technology company building AI-native laboratory software and instrument-connectivity hardware for clinical labs across Africa.

Mediverse AI is a Nigeria-born health technology company building AI-native laboratory software for Africa's laboratories. Its platform connects the whole of laboratory operations - sample collection, instrument testing, quality control and final reporting - with the aim of shortening turnaround times from days to minutes. The company cites research suggesting error rates of up to 30% in some African laboratories, and estimates its addressable market at some 53,000 laboratories across the continent.

The product line has two parts. Mediverse Device is a small hardware unit that connects directly to laboratory equipment - analysers, scanners, microscopes, freezers and other instruments - to pull data in real time and remove manual result writing. Mediverse Cloud Platform handles lab data, patients, referrals, billing and performance analytics, serving lab owners, scientists, referring doctors and patients. The software layer includes purpose-trained small AI models, voice dictation and voice-enabled search, natural-language analytics in plain English, anomaly detection on quality-control charts, and IoT connectivity. The company says it powers 6,000 tests a week across labs in Africa, serving customers from one-person pathology labs to diagnostic centres and 500-bed hospitals.

The team is small and cross-functional, made up of laboratory scientists, software developers, data scientists and product designers, and it ships weekly. Stated working arrangements include hybrid work with office days for brainstorming, 20 days' paid leave plus public holidays, a fully funded HMO for the employee and one dependent with an annual health check, conference and learning stipends (including non-technical courses), and quarterly off-sites held inside partner labs. Early staff are offered stock options alongside competitive pay, with direct access to the founders and wide discretion over their own domain.

Mediverse AI works with laboratories, pathology practices, diagnostic centres and hospitals, with its base in Nigeria and labs in several African markets. Its stated ambition is to modernise diagnostics globally, starting from Africa.
