maintenance and service activities.
• Establish appropriate technical requirements for pumps, compressors, generators, engines, valves and
associated mechanical equipment.
• Review equipment condition, operating information, inspection findings and failure history to
determine appropriate technical action.
• Define repair, overhaul, inspection, alignment, testing and release-to-service requirements.
• Review technical packages, work scopes and repair recommendations for technical adequacy and
completeness.
Failure Diagnosis, Repair & Reliability
• Lead technical investigations into equipment failures, repeat failures and significant mechanical defects.
• Apply root-cause and failure-analysis methods to identify failure mechanisms and contributing
conditions.
• Assess vibration, temperature, leakage, noise, wear and other available equipment condition
indicators.
• Determine corrective and preventive actions based on identified failure modes and equipment risk.
• Convert failure and repair findings into practical reliability improvements and lessons learned.
Maintenance, Installation & Execution Quality
• Establish technical requirements for preventive, corrective and reliability-focused maintenance
activities.
• Review equipment installation requirements, including alignment, torqueing, mechanical fit-up and
associated quality checks.
• Define pre-commissioning, commissioning and functional testing requirements for mechanical
equipment
• Ensure pressure, hydrostatic, pneumatic and other required testing is appropriately specified and
evidenced.
• Verify that maintenance and repair work is executed by competent personnel using approved
methods and suitable tools and equipment.
Technical Packages, OEM & Vendor Interface
• Review technical inputs for mechanical and rotating equipment work packages within delegated
authority.
• Interface with OEMs, specialist vendors, workshops and service providers on equipment diagnosis,
repair and technical requirements.
• Evaluate vendor recommendations against equipment condition, OEM requirements, approved
specifications and VURIN’s technical needs.
• Review vendor reports, test results and technical documentation for completeness and technical
acceptance.
• Resolve technical queries and equipment-related interfaces affecting project or maintenance
execution.
Equipment Performance, Technical Assurance & Capability
• Monitor equipment performance, availability, repeat failures and breakdown trends to identify
reliability priorities.
• Establish appropriate technical checks for critical equipment and known recurring-failure assets.
• Review inspection findings, condition-monitoring information, calculations and test results relevant to
equipment decisions.
• Lead and develop Mechanical/Rotating Engineers, Specialists and Technicians through coaching,
technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
• Capture lessons learned and recommend improvements to equipment practices, technical standards,
tools and training.
