It responds to crises caused by conflict and disaster, working to help affected populations survive, recover and rebuild. Its operations span more than 40 countries and 29 cities across the United States.
In 2024, the IRC delivered 10.6 million primary health-care consultations and provided 2.8 million people with access to clean water. It enrolled 1.6 million children and youth in learning programmes and supported over 60,000 people in the U.S., including refugees and asylum seekers. The organisation maintains the capacity to mount an emergency response within 72 hours.
The IRC also works to advance gender equality, with a stated commitment to breaking down barriers faced by women and girls. Its areas of focus include humanitarian aid, refugee services and disaster response.
