Evidence Action scales low-cost, evidence-based health programmes, including mass deworming and safe water access, across 11 countries in Africa and Asia.
Evidence Action is a global health organisation that scales low-cost, evidence-based interventions across Africa and Asia, working in 11 countries with a team of more than 900 people. Its stated aim is to improve wellbeing for hundreds of millions of people by implementing only those solutions with proven effectiveness, pairing rigorous research and evaluation with cost-effectiveness analysis to determine where each dollar achieves the most impact. The organisation partners closely with governments to embed and expand programmes, and iterates continuously on delivery.
Two flagship programmes account for much of its reach. Deworm the World delivers mass drug administration against intestinal worms at a cost of less than $0.50 per treatment; more than 2 billion treatments have been delivered, with reported productivity gains of $23 billion. Safe Water Now provides access to treated drinking water and now reaches 9.8 million people, an impact that more than doubled in 18 months. Across its interventions, Evidence Action reports reaching 530 million people and contributing to more than 16,000 children's lives saved.
Work at Evidence Action is shaped by a data-driven, results-oriented culture: evidence informs every decision, and programmes are subject to constant measurement and revision. The organisation describes its focus as neglected challenges in global health, spanning global health interventions, water and sanitation, and international development.
